GRAEME TODD

GRAEME TODD

Principal

Graeme has had in excess of 35 years legal experience having first worked as a law clerk whilst completing his full time studies at Otago University and since commencing practice in Queenstown in 1981.

Over the years Graeme has become a trusted legal adviser to his clients including local private and corporate entities, overseas residents and multinational corporations, local authorities and numerous community groups and sporting cubs. During this time one of the things he has enjoyed the most is acting for the increasing number of individuals and families that make up his general practice. Many of these clients have moved with him to TODD & WALKER Law. Graeme acts for second and third generations of the same families which gives a lot of personal satisfaction. He has been involved as adviser in the majority of the significant commercial and property transactions in the Queenstown Lakes District during his time in practice.

Graeme will continue to provide specialist Resource Management / Environmental Law advice as a senior member of the Resource Management Law bar. During his career Graeme has acted on some of the largest Resource Management cases in the Central Otago area.

In 2009 Graeme’s service to the law and the community was recognised with his appointment by the Archbishop of Canterbury with a South Island warrant to act as a Notary Public.

MICHAEL WALKER

MICHAEL WALKER

Principal 

From May 2015 Michael began working at QLDC initially as a Senior Solicitor before later becoming General Counsel in 2016. He was renowned to focus on the overall strategic and commercial outcomes of the organisation whilst also managing Council’s litigation portfolio. 

Michael as well as appearing regularly in Courts, Tribunals and other alternative dispute platforms, has advised and practiced in areas including local government and governance, resource management, insurance, procurement and commercial negotiations. As an experienced advocate having appeared in the full hierarchy of criminal matters, including jury trials involving allegations of murder, serious violence, drug manufacture and importation, sexual violation, fraud, arson and appeals against conviction and sentence in both the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Michael is trustee for the regionally significant Queenstown Trails Trust, responsible for the creation and management of the network of cycle and walking trails within the Wakatipu basin.  In addition, he also sits on the board as a director of the Tuatapere Humpridge Track. 

Michael is a Chartered Director of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand.

ANDREA GILBERT

ANDREA GILBERT

Associate Registered Legal Executive 

Andrea has extensive experience across a number of areas of law including rural, residential and commercial property transactions, refinancing, company formation, trust and estate planning and other associated matters.

Andrea has worked in law offices in excess of 30 years.  She completed her legal executive qualification in 1992 and is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives.  She also completed a Certificate of Small Business Management in 2009. Following time spent in many leading law firms Andrea went on to join Graeme at the commencement of his practice in 2011.  

Andrea and her family have lived in Queenstown for over 20 years. Andrea has numerous professional, sporting and social connections through her and her family’s involvement in the community.

PIP ROBERTS

PIP ROBERTS

Senior Solicitor

Pip's expertise is property focused, including residential conveyancing, rural property matters, subdivision and unit title developments. She also advises clients on commercial matters including sale and purchase of shares and general commercial transactions. She has a range of knowledge in areas of family trusts, wills and estates, relationship property and occupation right agreements for retirement living.

Pip joined the firm in February 2016 after spending two years living abroad. She graduated from the University of Otago in 2010 with a Bachelor of Laws degree and spent her first three years of practice in Auckland and then Tauranga. 

Pip is happy to be back in Queenstown, close to her family, the ski fields and the beautiful back yard Central Otago has to offer.

JESSICA WEINBERG

JESSICA WEINBERG

Senior Solicitor

Jessica specialises in commercial and property law with expertise in commercial property transactions, share and asset sales, shareholders agreements and banking and finance.

Jessica is locally born and bred in Queenstown and joined the firm as a Senior Solicitor after five years spent practising in the Queenstown district. Jessica was admitted to the bar in 2012, after graduating from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws.

Jessica has a number of social and professional connections with Otago and is thrilled to be continuing her professional career in Queenstown.

LOUISE DENTON

LOUISE DENTON

Senior Solicitor 

Louise specialises in criminal law regularly appearing in the Queenstown, Invercargill and Alexandra District Court. She has also regularly represented clients in High Court Appeals and Parole Board hearings.

Louise has experience in criminal and quasi-criminal matters including serious violence, drug offending, dishonesty, traffic, and limited licences and also has experience in applications for Protection Orders.

Louise can provide advice and support to clients from the moment they have contact with the Police. She will ensure that you are aware of your rights and understand the court process, providing advice on all options available to you when defending criminal charges.

Louise graduated from the University of Otago in 2007 with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce. She worked in Dunedin as a Crown Prosecutor before spending a couple of years travelling in North America and Europe, which included working in private practice in London. She returned to New Zealand to work as a criminal defence lawyer at New Zealand’s largest criminal law firm (the Public Defence Service).

Louise grew up in Dunedin but has close ties to Central Otago with her father growing up in Omakau. She has spent many childhood holidays in the area.

BEN GRESSON

BEN GRESSON

Solicitor

Ben has been working closely with partner Graeme Todd on a number of Resource Management and Local Government cases and assigned with due diligence investigations on large property transactions. Ben is excited to be a part of such work that ensures opportunity for the economic growth while retaining the region’s scenic and environmental value.

Ben joined the firm as a Graduate Solicitor after completing his Law LLB at Otago University in 2015 and was admitted to the bar in late 2016.

Born and raised in Auckland but with strong ties to the South Island, Ben is enjoying the Queenstown lifestyle and enjoys classic Central Otago pastimes such as skiing and golf.

JACQUI WILSON

Legal Executive

Jacqui’s experience includes rural, residential and commercial property conveyancing transactions, refinancing, company formation, trust and estate planning and other associated matters.

Jacqui joined TODD & WALKER Law as a Legal Executive in 2012. She has in excess of 20 years legal experience, having worked in law offices in South Otago and latterly in Queenstown, since re-locating here with her husband in 2008.

PAIGE NOORLAND

Solicitor 

Paige joined the firm as a Solicitor and works closely alongside Principal Michael Walker to develop her experience and expertise in Criminal law and Litigation, areas which have always proven to be her passion.

Paige graduated from Canterbury University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (History and Economics) and has recently completed the Professionals Courseand was admitted to the Bar in August 2017.

Paige has close ties with Central Otago having spent her final year of college attending Cromwell College and is excited to once again be working and living in the Queenstown region and making the most of the outdoor lifestyle it has to offer.

MOLLY BEAUCHAMP

Administration Assistant

Molly joined the firm in 2015 as the firm’s Administration Assistant for the Frankton Office whilst undertaking the Legal Executive Diploma by distance with the aim of becoming a Registered Legal Executive with the firm. Molly will be fully qualified by the end of 2017 and will become the firms Estate manager and will also carrying out work across a number of areas of law including residential and commercial property, trust planning and refinancing. 

Molly locally born and bred and enjoys all that Queenstown has to offer. Prior to joining the firm Molly was the Manager of a large retail store in Queenstown and during her tenure there she achieved Manager of the Season for 2014.

P.A/ Office Administrator

Louise is the firm’s Office Administrator and P.A to partner Graeme Todd.

Louise, originally from the United Kingdom, moved to Queenstown in 2014 from the UK where she completed a Law LLB. Louise has an extensive administrative and legal background and is currently undertaking study to convert her qualifications to a full New Zealand Law LLB.

In her spare time Louise enjoys hiking and camping and never tires of the beautiful Queenstown scenery.

TESSA MARCHAND

Administration Assistant

Tessa joined the firm as an administration assistant for the Queenstown Office and has recently started the path towards becoming a Registered Legal Executive for the firm and has begun studying for the Diploma in Legal Executive Studies by distance.

Tessa has grown up in Queenstown and has always lived and worked locally. Since graduating from Wakatipu High School Tessa has gone on to manage a large retail store and most recently worked at a local pharmacy before joining the team at TODD & WALKER Law.
