In additional to his large private client general practice Graeme has been involved in some of the most significant legal transactions in Queenstown and the greater region in the last thirty years. A few examples include:

  • Acting on thousands of property and related financing transactions including acting for Vendors and Purchasers of farm and High Country Stations
  • Advising and acting on the acquisition and subsequent sale of one of the largest portfolios of commercial and visitor accommodation properties in the South Island
  • Appearing before the Environment Court (in respect of in excess of 200 hearings), High Court and Court of Appeal on Resource Management matters
  • Advising on estate and succession planning and Family Trusts
  • Appearing successfully before the Liquor Licencing Authority, High Court and Court of Appeal in respect of various appeals against Queenstown Lakes District Licencing Agency's Sale of Liquor trading hours policy
  • Acting as adviser and advocate for a number of land developers and subdividers throughout New Zealand as well as, in the past, for local authorities

  • Advising on, preparing and appearing in support of original applications for the initial construction of Millbrook Country Club
  • Appearing as successful counsel on a large number of Environment Court appeals involving commercial jetboating within inland waterways of Otago
  • Appearing in support of a successful application for a Casino licence and advising and appearing before the Casino Control Authority on third parties applications
  • Advising on the acquisition and development of a number of major tourism accommodation projects and acting as owners representative for overseas owners in their contractual relationship with hotel management companies
  • Preparing and appearing in support of the only ever successful application in New Zealand for a 24 hour exemption from the Shop Trading Hours legislation
  • Advising and acting on the formation of Destination Queenstown
  • Managing successful alternative dispute resolution processes including a dispute involving partners of a professional services partnership
  • Acting on behalf of landowners in numerous applications to freehold pastoral lease land
  • Advising property owners in respect of insurance claims and restoration of properties following natural disasters
  • Settlor of the Queenstown Lakes Affordable Housing Trust
  • Member and speaker at overseas trade, tourism and investment roadshows sponsored by New Zealand Government
