Ben Alexander
Solicitor
Ben is a solicitor in the firm’s litigation team and works closely with Principals Michael Walker and Louise Denton, and the wider litigation team.
Ben works across a range of disciplines but has a particular focus on criminal and regulatory defence and civil litigation. He is also available to assist with firearms and professional disciplinary matters. Ben regularly appears in District Courts across the lower South Island and is available to provide advice on a wide range of matters including traffic, sexual, drug, and violence-related offending. He has successfully advanced a criminal appeal to the High Court and represents clients in all manner of applications and revocations, including limited licences, firearms, and discharges without conviction.
After beginning his legal studies at the University of Otago, Ben completed his degrees at Victoria University of Wellington. He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Political Science and minoring in Māori Studies) in 2021 and was admitted to the Bar later that year. He is a PAL 1 Legal Aid Provider and Duty Lawyer.
Prior to joining TODD & WALKER Law, Ben worked for a professional regulatory body and undertook work experience with criminal defence barristers in Wellington and Auckland.
A local, Ben was born and raised in Central Otago then boarded at Otago Boys’ High School. After completing his studies in Wellington, Ben enjoys being back in the South where outside of work he spends his time exploring local eateries and wineries and enjoying the great outdoors.
